Cold and Blue (Big Stir Digital Single No. 11)
Sons of Morning
The eleventh BIG STIR DIGITAL SINGLE, the first of 2019 (and last of "Wave 1" which will comprise the forthcoming compilation) features a pair of lovely, aching ballads from SONS OF MORNING, the acclaimed New Haven, Connecticut combo whose 2015 self-titled debut record has left fans and critics waiting for more.
The wait is over as BIG STIR RECORDS proudly presents "Cold and Blue" b/w "Evangeline", brand new SOM tracks showcasing what frontman HAROLD MILLER and company have been up to. Will they remind you of the delicate-but-gritty side of the band's beloved Brian Jones-era Rolling Stones? We reckon they will, being as they are a fresh spin on the tunes and sounds of the days when rock and roll was yet untamed, and unafraid to wear its broken heart on its sleeve.
SONS OF MORNING have a history reaching back to their legendary days as THE HELLCATS. The band reconstituted itself under the new name after a layoff of a couple of decades during which life intervened for all its members. Not having missed a beat and armed with a steady flow of new material, the band's sound, rooted in pre-psychedelic 60’s Pop/Rock, British Invasion and Mod, Southern Blues, down-home Country, and early American Punk, comes across as fresher than ever. It's an essential antidote to the steady decline of passion in mainstream rock and rewards repeated listening well beyond the initial rush!
"Cold and Blue" b/w "Evangeline" will be released Friday, January 4 2019, and is available for preorder now at the BSR website. Follow SONS OF MORNING at the link below!
