Original sunshine pop pioneers THE CYRKLE, celebrating the 60th Anniversary of their first album release and their opening slot on The Beatles' historic final tour by releasing their celebrated comeback album REVIVAL on Vinyl for the first time ever, present a very special new single for the occasion: “He Can Fly,” a fan-favorite track treasured as a virtual reunion of the band's founding members. Fans of the '60s music scene will fondly recall THE CYRKLE, founded by singers DON DANNEMANN and TOM DAWES, for their two magical hit singles “Red Rubber Ball” (which went to #2 on the Billboard Charts) and “Turn-Down Day,” both released in 1966 and now seen as cornerstones of the sunshine pop sound. That same year saw the band (the only American act managed by Brian Epstein) release their first album, named after the first single, and serve as the opening act for none other than The Beatles on their last-ever tour dates. They folded not long afterward, leaving behind the songs and a legacy potent enough to serve as the foundation of a new incarnation in the 21st Century, anchored by DANNEMANN and original keyboard player MIKE LOSEKAMP and including bassist DEAN KASTRAN, founding member of The Ohio Express. Performing on the retro rock circuit to adoring crowds since 2016 and issuing the appropriately-titled new album REVIVAL in 2024 on Big Stir Records , THE CYRKLE – now also including Pat McLoughlin (vocals, guitar), Don White (lead guitar, vocals) and Scott Langley (drums, vocals) – has recaptured their original sound for a new generation despite the absence of co-founder DAWES who sadly passed away in 2007, shortly after reconnecting with DANNEMANN to plan a reunion that was never to be.

It's for that reason that “He Can Fly,” a delightfully charming, brightly melodic and slightly surreal tune, captures a special moment in THE CYRKLE's history. The songs was written and first recorded by ANDREW SANDOVAL (Grammy Award nominated engineer of Where the Action Is! Los Angeles Nuggets: 1965–1968 and the official historian of The Monkees) and produced by none other than original Cyrkle member Tom Dawes. Mutual acquaintance Daniel Coston presented the song to Dannemann, who picks up the tale: “I didn’t know it upon first listening, but later, Daniel told me that Tom was singing all the background vocals. Ultimately, Andrew gave us permission to use the backing tracks for our own version of the song, allowing me to sing once more with Tom.” Thus “He Can Fly” reunites Tom Dawes and Don Dannemann, the two main voices of the original band, and faithfully recreates the unique sound of The Cyrkle on a song in the mold of both “Red Rubber Ball” and “Turn-Down Day.” It's one of many treats that fans old and new can find within the grooves of REVIVAL when it arrives on Vinyl for the first time on July 10: there are also the hit indie singles “We Were There,” “Dance With Me Tonight” and “We Thought We Could Fly” that brought the band back to radio after too long an absence, as well as gorgeous showcases for Losekamp on “We Can Find It” and “Singing For Tomorrow” and much more evidence that the band is no mere nostalgia act. But among them, “He Can Fly” soars as the purest fusion of the chemistry that originally brought the band together, and that which fuels them today. It most assuredly deserves its place as the 60th Anniversary single for THE CYRKLE, and we are proud to bring it to you now.
