Revered California indie rockers PLASTICSOUL, with their first new album in nearly a decade announced and on its way in November, offer up the next preview single from the album: “Little Jewel.” A soaring, psych-soaked ballad of empowerment and a change of pace from the full-on rock of their recent indie hit “J'adore,” it hints at the diversity displayed on the new album WE CAN HEAR YOU, CLEM FANDANGO and the creative peak the band has achieved in 2026. “Little Jewel” is out November 6 on all digital platforms worldwide and up for preorder and pre-save now:

The indie rock world has waited nine years since PLASTICSOUL topped 2017 “Year's Best Album” lists with their third full-length record THERAPY, and while the new album WE CAN HEAR YOU, CLEM FANDANGO is still a month from release, fans have already been rewarded for their patience. The long-running quintessential lineup of the band (singer/songwriter/guitarist STEVEN WILSON, bassist Marc Bernal, drummer Steven Markowitz and guitarist Daniel Conrad) scored big and rocked hard last month with the first single from the album, “J'adore”, and its giddy guitar pop tones are still ringing all over the global indie airwaves. But where that track, like much of the new album, leaned hard into greasy glam rock abandon, the new single “Little Jewel” floats in a more stately, psychedelic fashion. The glitter's still there along with the hooks, but this is, for lack of a better description, the lighters-up ballad of the album and it stands with the best arena singalongs in rock history and, atypically but brilliantly, a message of empowerment for the deeply challenging times we all face now.

“Life is not always kind. Life, like Lynn Anderson, never promised us a rose garden,” Wilson says of the song's intent. “Hold on to each other tightly, adapt, emit a primal scream if it helps, and keep moving on from where you are.” You can hear that he means it as his powerful voice rises and falls in a wonderful melody for the ages, with churning guitars, pounding drums and walls of pristine harmony underpinning it all: “It’s okay if you want to change your shape... I can relate because I made the same mistakes.” The sentiment stands out on album full of celebratory boogie rock bangers and snarky, sharply-observed social satire, but it's not alone, as Wilson notes. “It’s very rare that I write positive affirmation songs. Strangest thing – on this album we did two, 'Build My Invention' and 'You're So Money'. In retrospect this one might be the third! When did I become so hopeful?”

That might be a clue as to what makes the new album such a cathartic, coherent and rewarding experience: everything here is one form or another of screaming into the void, whether it be an attempt to rescue a friend as we have here, a withering putdown of the negative creeps in the world, or a declaration that rock and roll still has redemptive power to spare. PLASTICSOUL brings that power to bear again and again on the new record, drenched in the sheer rock majesty for which they are rightly known. You'll hear it when you hear WE CAN HEAR YOU, CLEM FANDANGO, loud and clear and absolutely killer. The album is out November 20 on Vinyl, CD and Streaming from Big Stir Records and up for pre-order and pre-save now.
